Quality & nuclear safety: rigor and reliability

Our quality and nuclear safety department ensures the conformity and reliability of our products through qualified inspectors and dedicated inspection resources.

Visual and dimensional inspections, PMI, dye penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, hydrostatic testing and hardness measurements are performed in accordance with the requirements of the main applicable standards.

Metrology

Precision and control

All machined and welded products are subject to rigorous dimensional inspections, complemented by systematic visual inspections using dedicated metrology equipment.

SPM notably operates a FARO portable measuring arm, measurement equipment up to 2000 mm, profile projectors, internal and external micrometers, digital roughness testers and hardness testing equipment.

PMI testing

Material traceability and compliance

Under the supervision of our in-house radiation protection officer (RPO), PMI (Positive Material Identification) inspection is used to verify material chemical composition and ensure raw material conformity.

Inspections are performed on 100% of incoming materials and by sampling during production.

Dye penetrant testing

Rigor and integrity

Our inspectors, certified COFREND Level 2 (NF EN ISO 9712) with annual vision checks, perform dye penetrant testing in accordance with internal procedures validated by a Level 3, and compliant with major design codes (RCC-M, CODAP, NF EN 13480, CODETI, ASME).

Inspections are carried out at various stages of production (machined parts, during welding, after welding) and meet PMUC requirements.

Dye penetrant testing may be supplemented by other non-destructive testing (NDT) methods as required.

Magnetic particle inspection

Rigor and integrity

Our COFREND Level 2 certified inspectors (NF EN ISO 9712) perform magnetic particle testing in accordance with PMUC requirements, with annual visual acuity verification.

Our internal procedures, based on major API and ASME standards, are validated by a COFREND Level 3 inspector to ensure inspection reliability.

Hydrostatic testing

Safety and integrity

Hydrostatic testing is used to verify the integrity and tightness of pressure equipment by subjecting it to pressures higher than operating conditions.

SPM operates testing facilities up to 1000 bar with cycle recording systems, dedicated test areas, specific test pits and the possibility for customers or notified bodies to witness testing operations. Water quality is also periodically monitored.
